Press this button to automatically generate name control information. The program will do its best to follow the rules as published in Publication 1220 in creating a name control for each vendor. The generated name control information should be reviewed for accuracy.
A Federal ID must be entered for every account that needs a Name Control
The Federal ID or Social Security number helps determine how the name control is generated
If you are printing the 1099s to paper, you do not have to use name controls. There is no field on the paper 1099s to print the name control.
Name Controls may be generated or entered in the Vendor Master so that the information is pulled over to the work file with the vendor information each year.
